She looked so refined and elegant. Who knew she had such a fiery temper?
Judging by the bruises on the two cousins, they must have been terrified out of their minds.
"Well, karma always catches up eventually!" Yanni Young clapped his hands, laughing from the sidelines.
He wasn't even trying to hide his schadenfreude.
Owen and Claire both turned to look at him simultaneously.
Yanni lightly slapped his own mouth. "Oops, bad phrasing. I didn't mean Claire was the karma."
"You're amazing!" He shot Claire a massive thumbs-up.
The rest of the room silently agreed. Waylon was a menace who desperately needed to be put in his place.
He had tried to mess with a helpless girl, only to crash straight into a brick wall.
Yanni's intense satisfaction was entirely justified. His own younger sister had been one of Waylon's victims.
Waylon was a useless playboy, but he was undeniably handsome and knew exactly what to say to woo women.
He had easily charmed Yanni's sister, only to start hooking up with other girls shortly after they got together.
She had eventually dumped the bastard, but the heartbreak had deeply scarred her.
Waylon, on the other hand, had simply brushed it off and continued living his best life as if nothing had happened.
"I didn't expect it to be such a coincidence either." Claire stared at the massive lump on Waylon's forehead. "Someone cut me off. It was just an instinctual reaction."
"After all, I was terrified."
She delivered the line with the casual indifference of someone discussing what they had for breakfast.
There wasn't a chance in hell she had actually been scared!
"Sweetheart, with those driving skills, you expect me to believe you were scared?"
Waylon hated admitting defeat, but he had clearly seen her side profile during the chase. She had been terrifyingly calm, without a single ripple of panic.
He had been determined to track her down, but since he had more pressing business tonight, he had put it on the back burner.
And now, the very girl he was looking for turned out to be Owen's cousin.
"Fear makes my reflexes sharper. It was all pure instinct," Claire replied deadpan.
