The Billionaire's True Heiress From Fake Jewel to Real Crown novel Chapter 1629

By the time Claire walked out, Mr. Harding had ordered a lavish lunch spread.

She performed a quick assessment of Hillary, and the second she stepped back, Mr. Harding had the steaming food placed right in front of her.

"Please, eat," he urged warmly.

"We didn't get you anything for breakfast because we didn't want to wake you."

"It's almost noon anyway. Have a bite, and you can go straight back to sleep."

"No need for more sleep. I'm heading back after this," Claire replied, picking up a fork.

She didn't decline the meal; she had definitely earned the calories.

Stifling a yawn, she continued, "You can relax, Mr. Harding. Hillary is out of the woods. Her vitals are stabilizing beautifully."

"She woke up briefly and passed out again simply because her internal organs haven't fully regenerated yet. They can't sustain conscious brain activity."

Claire kept the medical jargon out of it so the man wouldn't panic.

Mr. Harding sagged with relief. "I'm sorry for being so overbearing, Claire. It's just terrifying watching your child in that bed."

"That's why I selfishly forced you to stay."

"My father mentioned your skills are unparalleled, and Dr. Tandy told me you used an incredibly rare medicine to save her life last night."

"Please accept this Consultation Fee. I hope it reflects our gratitude."

He pressed a sleek black bank card into Claire's hand.

Claire pocketed it without asking for the balance.

Neither she nor the Hardings cared about money. At their level of wealth, digits in a bank account were essentially meaningless.

She already knew exactly how she was going to spend it.

She had blown her supply of Restoration Elixir and needed to forge a new batch.

The raw herbs were nearly impossible to source, but she planned to hike the northern ranges during summer break to hunt for them.

"Honestly, I shouldn't be charging you a medical fee, but the materials for that pill are extremely expensive, so..."

Claire offered a brief justification so she didn't seem like she was extorting them.

Whether he believed her or not, she genuinely wasn't overcharging him.

"No, you must take it!" Mr. Harding insisted. Walking away without paying had never been an option.

To a businessman, a paid transaction was the cleanest, safest relationship.
