Every dollar the two sisters earned went straight toward paying his tuition.
He and Hunter Darwin were cut from the exact same cloth.
Having reaped all the rewards of his sisters' sacrifices, he naturally agreed with the Darwins. Families were supposed to help each other, right? That way, he could be their rock in the future.
He thought he was just speaking the truth online and never expected the entire internet to rip him to shreds.
He still felt that netizens were just selfish jerks for attacking him.
Until his girlfriend, tipped off by a friend, tracked him down.
"Terrence Higgins, what exactly did you mean by this?"
Terrence hadn't expected his girlfriend to discover his unhinged online rant.
Guilt flickered in his eyes. "I was just making a point! And I'm not wrong, families should help each other."
"Her parents couldn't afford it. Since Sienna made it big, isn't it her duty to support her family?"
"Her parents brought her into this world and raised her. She owes them for that, doesn't she?"
The more Terrence talked, the more convinced he became of his own righteousness.
He spoke with increasing confidence, entirely missing the dark look settling over his girlfriend's face.
"Didn't you say you have two sisters who dropped out of school to work?" she asked, her expression unreadable.
Terrence didn't try to hide it. "Yeah, they didn't want to study anymore. They wanted to start working early. Plus, my family's finances were tight, they couldn't afford to send all three of us."
"Did they really get worse grades than you?" She couldn't bring herself to trust him anymore.
She had a sinking feeling he was leaving something out.
Terrence's smile faltered for a second before he nodded. "Of course. I was always the smartest one in the family."
The smartest one, yet he only barely scraped into a third-rate college?
His girlfriend clearly didn't buy it.
She knew he was lying.
