"Worry about yourself!"
"Make sure you don't embarrass yourself too badly when you lose!"
Cami glared right back at him.
She had absolute faith that her best friend could leave all these men eating her dust.
"Oh, we've got a fiery one here!"
Buzz clicked his tongue, and the men around him erupted into laughter.
"Racing is a man's game. Delicate little things like you belong on the back of the bike."
"Stop trying to force your way into spaces where you don't belong. Wouldn't it be better to just sit back and watch the men show off?"
Cami opened her mouth to snap back, but Mina stopped her. Mina cast a cold glare at Buzz. "A man's game?"
"Did the factory stamp a 'Men Only' label on these bikes when they rolled off the assembly line? Are women not allowed to ride?"
Buzz scoffed.
"You've got quite the attitude, gorgeous. Sure, the bikes don't have a label, but look around—how many women do you see riding?"
"I get that you like motorcycles. Riding around for fun on the weekends is fine, but there's no need to come out here and make a fool of yourselves."
"These bikes aren't just a thrill ride; they're dangerous. I'm giving you friendly advice, but if you won't listen, suit yourselves."
Buzz put on an act of feigned concern, but he couldn't hide the blatant misogyny in his eyes.
Mina couldn't be bothered to argue with him, motioning for Cami to drop it.
"Whether women can ride or not, we'll see on the track!"
She refused to waste her breath. Shutting them down with pure skill would feel infinitely more satisfying than a verbal sparring match!
She didn't know if she could beat everyone else, but destroying Buzz was an absolute guarantee!
Claire had overheard the entire exchange. When Mina's gaze swept over her, Claire offered a warm smile.
"Good luck!"
Mina gave Claire an appreciative nod.
That small gesture of kindness filled her with gratitude.
She raced for the love of the sport, but she also desperately needed the cash.
So today, no matter what it took, Mina was going all in.
