If she laid down the gauntlet like that, it meant she had zero intention of losing.
A million dollars was more than enough bait to hook an idiot like Buzz.
He was already throwing a tantrum over losing a half-million-dollar prize to two women. With a full million on the table, Owen knew the guy wouldn't be able to resist.
Predictably, the astronomical sum blinded Buzz to the reality of his own skills. He didn't even pause to consider if he could actually win. "Fine, it's a deal!"
"Just don't back out when it's time to pay up."
Buzz's petty mind was already agonizing over whether Owen would honor the bet.
"Hold on!" Mina called out. Seeing these two strangers stick their necks out for her with such insane stakes made her fiercely uncomfortable.
Buzz shot her a dirty look. "What, you want to raise the stakes?"
There was already a million on the line.
If Mina was willing to toss her recent half-million winnings into the pot, he'd be thrilled.
Losing wasn't even a possibility in his mind.
So what if he couldn't beat a pro like Mina? Did that mean he couldn't smoke some pretty face like Claire?
She was wearing a dress, for God's sake. She looked delicate and entirely out of place in the underground racing scene.
Even if she knew how to handle a bike, she was probably just an amateur.
Honestly, she'd probably ridden more men than motorcycles.
To say Buzz's mind was as repulsive as his personality was an understatement.
"If they lose, they pay a million. If you lose, you just apologize?" Mina demanded.
What was wrong with that?
Buzz knew he had the advantage, but to him, this was already a guaranteed payout.
