Claire heard the camp broadcast calling out Zara Zeller's dorm room for failing the inspection. She didn't know whether to laugh or shake her head.
She never expected her roommate to become famous like this.
Fortunately, no one else knew Zara was her actual roommate back at the university yet.
Since the boot camp was divided by squads, Zara was dragging down her immediate squadmates!
Those squadmates were utterly speechless.
The squad leader covered her face with her hands.
She didn't even want to admit they knew Zara!
One of Zara's camp roommates complained, "How can you not know how to clean up at all? If you had even tried a little, our whole room wouldn't be humiliated!"
"Exactly. Ms. Zeller, do us a favor and drop the spoiled heiress act in a shared dorm."
"The squad leader isn't your maid. Show some respect!"
"Getting our whole room publicly shamed is bad enough, but now we have to go to the back of the line for lunch."
"This is a nightmare. I'm starving. What if the people in front eat all the food?"
"Why did I end up in the same squad as someone dragging us down?"
Whether they used her name or not, Zara felt like she was sitting on pins and needles.
She didn't want to hold them back, but she genuinely had no idea how to do chores.
If she had known, she would have begged her family to fake a doctor's note.
"Stop it. I know I messed up, and I'm sorry!"
Zara shouted her apology.
But the other girls didn't think she sounded apologetic at all; they just thought the spoiled girl was unrepentant.
She even made it sound like they were bullying her.
Claire didn't know exactly what was happening on Zara's end, but she guessed it wouldn't be pretty.
They were all students. When it came to collective interests, no one cared how much money her family had.
Even if her family was loaded, it wasn't like the rest of them would see a dime of it.
These were all top-tier university students, naturally carrying their own pride.
No one believed him; they all thought they had done a decent job.
Officer Miller couldn't be bothered to argue with a bunch of college kids.
"Our squad is fifth in line for lunch. Get ready!"
"It's your first day, so you don't know the rules. Let me remind you: grab a tray and serve yourselves. Take only what you can eat. Don't be greedy!"
"Wasting food isn't just shameful; it'll get you punished!"
"Am I clear?"
"Clear!" Compared to the officer's booming voice, the students sounded painfully weak.
Officer Miller cupped his ear. "What was that? Speak up, I can't hear you!"
"Crystal clear!"
The students were forced to repeat it, finally raising their voices.
Everyone just wanted to eat. Starving was not a pleasant feeling.
