At that moment, Zachary's friend looked at him and laughed. "If you dislike someone enough to say it outright, then that person must be truly awful."
Zachary and Celeste had not gone very far, so both Wynn and Quentin heard the remark clearly.
When Wynn had politely greeted Zachary earlier, he had responded with cold indifference and acted as if she didn't exist.
Quentin had found that hard to swallow. But now, seeing Zachary and his friend openly take jabs at Wynn, his anger flared even more.
He knew the reason they would mock Wynn to her face was probably that Celeste had misled them. Even so, he was furious that someone like Zachary would condemn Wynn without even knowing the full truth of the matter.
Staring at their retreating figures, Quentin's expression darkened. He wanted to see whether Zachary would feel guilty for believing in slander and hurting a young woman once he learned Celeste's true colors.
With that thought in mind, he wanted to expose Celeste in front of Zachary.
At the same time, Wynn spoke, "Let's eat somewhere else."
She turned and walked away as soon as she finished speaking.
Quentin froze for a moment. He hurried after her after coming back to his senses.
Noticing the strained look on her face, he assumed she was upset and aggrieved by Zachary's misunderstanding.
Just as he was about to comfort her, Wynn cut off his thoughts. "Quentin, I know you're trying to help me. Thank you. I understand your intentions. I'm really fine."
She forced a smile and added, "Didn't you say you wanted local food? There's a pretty good place next door. My treat."
Anyone could tell that Wynn was forcing herself to smile.
To Quentin, she was simply pretending to be okay because she didn't want him to worry. So, seeing that only made his heart ache for her even more.
He wanted to tell her that he had a way to expose Celeste's true character to Zachary. But when he remembered that Trevor was involved, he hesitated and ultimately said nothing.
After bidding Zachary, she was about to leave when he rubbed his brow and lowered the car window. Then, Zachary handed her the handbag she had accidentally left behind.
Everyone was stunned. They all turned to Celeste.
"W-Was that Mr. Newman just now?"
"You had lunch with Mr. Newman?"
Celeste nodded. "Yes."
"Holy shit!"
Just then, Quentin returned as well and witnessed the entire scene.

I think there wont be a closure anytime soon, with the speed with which the story is flowing. New characters are being introduced, sides and opinions are being formed blindly - yet no one is ever discussing anything with each other. This is by far the most frustrating novel i have read and yet, come back for an update in a hope that there may be something in reader's favor now. Sigh! There is nothing. If author doesn't want to take Celeste Trevor route, then let Celeste move on like Trevor has. Enough with this beating around the bush....

I can't even believe there are almost 800 chapters and absolutely no story line advances. Basically Trevor is absolute trash and deserves to be mocked and scorned because of his cheating nature, bringing his mistress around like he's single and flaunting the billions he spends on her as if he is not already married for 7 years. Celeste deserves everyone to know her story and be free of this loser....
Very slow in updating chapters😔.... Tat too only one... It vil be useful if updates have 5 chap a day or atleast 3 per day...

Why am i reading this novel still? In what hope, seriously? To have Trevor regret his choices? To get some clarity or closure on so many gaps this novel offers? To have Shaws & Lockets ever face repercussions? To get clarity on Celeste's mother life? Because seriously, 720+ chapters gone by and from last 350 chapter - there has been no significant progress, the story has been playing around in loops. This is just sad...
