Matthias turned his attention to Wynn amid all the discussion around them.
She could feel his gaze even with her eyes lowered.
However, before she could react, Matthias curled his lips into a mocking smile.
"Ms. Locket, if I remember correctly, you're the same age as Cel, aren't you? She developed Cuap when she was only 17. To this day, Cuap remains YodaVision's strongest competitive advantage, and no one in the industry has managed to crack it.
"Later, although she stepped away from her career after getting married and having a child, she returned to the company and achieved remarkable results in less than two years."
Everyone around them had fallen silent again the moment Matthias began speaking.
However, he paid them no attention and continued. "But what about you? If I remember correctly, you still haven't accomplished anything of note in the industry. You haven't developed anything of real value that you can call your own, have you?
"Perhaps we can put all that aside. Let's talk about the papers Cel published. Without help from anyone else, I imagine you'd have a hard time fully understanding them.
"Compared to Cel, how could anyone call you anything but utterly mediocre? So, when I said my mentor refused to take you as his student simply because you were too ordinary and didn't meet his standard, was I wrong?"
Wynn clenched her hands, her face turning deathly pale.
The people around them were also whispering in astonishment.
"So, Mr. Newman rejected her simply because she wasn't good enough? He didn't think she qualified, but she assumed Ms. Rodriguez was sabotaging her behind the scenes. She even went around telling people that Ms. Rodriguez used improper means to get into YodaVision and that all her papers were fabricated.
"But, as for your intention on taking Cel as your student, we genuinely had no idea about it beforehand. So, I'd still like to ask you to explain it to everyone. I don't want people to misunderstand my junior."
Philip's feelings were complicated as well. As for Matthias's apology, he couldn't simply tell him it was all right.
Even though none of this had been deliberately caused by Matthias, his banquet had been turned into this, so naturally, he wasn't exactly pleased.
However, he also knew that he couldn't blame Matthias and Celeste. After all, his decision to take Celeste as his student had been one of the catalysts that had set everything else in motion.

Somehow i am relieved today to see no updates than to be disappointed with yet another irritating show of everyone else's POV but the main characters...
I know everyone will not agree with me and I also know that Trevor is a trash and all but I want Trevor and Celeste to get back together. They should be the end game and for that to happen Trevor should start working hard for that second chance....
So we're going to go on for another 15 chapter's about jordan's temper tantrum with neither of the parents asking her what's wrong..stop milking it. The only reason i'm still reading is because i cant leave a book unfinished. What I'm pissed about is the book started with promise and turned into a circus....
The story should just come to an end and the writer should give their reader the closure they deserve. There's no point in keeping the story going. It's been the same since the start. Not has changed. The initial story plot was, that Celeste and Trevor are getting devorce and still after 800 + chapter, they are still heading for a devorce....
Don’t Shaws and Lockets reflect ever on themselves? Every difficult situation, they look forward to Wynn to ask for Trevor to help. Initially the focus of the novel was on how Wynn is so accomplished blah blah and now - she is just a useless person, incapable of anything. Irritating storyline...
I'm starting to get bored and I can't predict exactly where the story is headed....
