Nora cleared her throat awkwardly, about to explain, “He’s not my boyfriend,” when Nathan grabbed her hand.
The man moved with surprising speed, pulling Nora along in a light jog to the car door. “Home!”
Nora was speechless.
The driver gave a knowing smile. “Miss, your boyfriend is very enthusiastic.”
“Get in, miss.”
Nora’s lips parted, wanting to explain but feeling it was pointless. She got into the car without another word.
Once inside, Nathan leaned back against the seat, closed his eyes, and seemed to fall asleep.
Nora let out a sigh of relief.
A sleeping Nathan was much less worrying than his earlier state.
But clearly, she had relaxed too soon.
After the car started moving, Nathan suddenly sat up.
His back was ramrod straight, as if he were a soldier standing at attention.
Nora was baffled and instinctively asked, “What are you doing?”
Nathan ignored her, continuing to sit bolt upright.
The driver saw Nathan’s posture and laughed. “Miss, your boyfriend would be great in the army! Look at that posture, straight as an arrow!”
Nora didn’t know what to say and could only manage a dry laugh.
Nathan, who had been silent, suddenly spoke up. “Nora!”
Nora was completely bewildered. “What is it?”
Nathan said, “Are we going home?”
Nora was even more confused. “Yes, where else would we be going?”
“Home!”
Nathan suddenly grew excited. “We’re going home!”
“Pfft—”
The driver’s shoulders shook with laughter.
