The Captain I Married by Chance novel Chapter 134

Rubbing his throbbing head, Aaron winced.

Seeing the darkness in the room, he clicked his tongue softly and fumbled for the light switch in the living room.

The banging on the door continued. It took Aaron a moment to compose himself before he walked over and opened it.

He was met with Mia’s complaints. “Didn’t you say you’d pick me up after your dinner with your colleagues? I waited for you for four hours! You didn’t answer your phone or reply to my texts. What were you doing?”

Aaron’s reaction was slow. He let out a belated “oh” and said, “I forgot.”

Mia’s eyes widened. “You forgot? How dare you forget!”

She was furious, pushing past Aaron into the apartment. “Did you forget, or were you messing around with that girlfriend of yours and ignoring me? Aaron, let me tell you something. You were the one who came after me first. If I find out you’re playing games behind my back, you’ll see what I do to you!”

Aaron frowned as his fragmented memories started to return. He finally remembered why he had been drinking his sorrows away at home.

“Enough!”

Aaron roughly cut Mia off. “Will you ever stop?”

Mia was stunned, looking at him in disbelief, her eyes filled with anger. “You’re yelling at me? Aaron, you dare to yell at me?”

Aaron was in no mood to pacify this princess. He ran his hands through his hair in frustration, trying to soften his tone, but it still came out harsh. “Mia, I was in a bad mood today, so I drank too much and lost track of time. I didn’t mean to stand you up. It’s late, so go home and rest. I’ll come find you tomorrow and apologize.”

Mia was not having it.

She leaned in and sniffed Aaron. “You smell awful!” she said with a look of disgust.

“What could possibly have put you in such a bad mood that you had to go drinking? Didn’t I tell you I don’t like men who drink?”

Aaron felt as if a fly were buzzing around his ear, making it impossible for him to suppress his rising anger.
