Mia’s mind immediately filled with all sorts of bizarre horror movie scenarios.

She took out her phone and called Aaron.

But after several consecutive calls, no one answered.

“Damn it!” After cursing a few times, Mia finally chose to call the police.

But the operator told her that she couldn’t file a report if the person wasn’t actually missing.

The operator even tried to reassure her, saying, “Taxis at night aren’t as unsafe as you might think.”

Finally, she added, “If your boyfriend goes missing, or if he makes any attempt to call for help, I advise you to report it to the nearest police station immediately.”

Mia hung up the phone in frustration.

Aaron’s voice sounded very helpless. “I’m sorry, Mia. I suddenly remembered I had something to take care of at the hospital, so I had to rush back. I’m really sorry I couldn’t tend to you earlier.”

“It’s too late now. Can you please go home first?”

“I’ll come apologize to you after I’m done here, okay? Be good.”

Aaron blew a kiss into the phone’s microphone before hanging up.

“Hey! Aaron, get back here!”

Mia heard the dial tone and realized he had hung up, which made her even angrier.

Stomping her foot in fury, Mia went straight upstairs and back into Aaron’s apartment.

He wanted her to go home? She would do the opposite. If Aaron didn’t give her a reasonable explanation, she was going to make him pay!
