The Captain I Married by Chance novel Chapter 139

Nathan frowned, said, "Oh," and left it at that.

Nora keenly sensed a hint of displeasure in his tone.

But she didn't have time to worry about his mood.

Police tape had been set up at the base of the building, and a crowd of people had gathered, whispering amongst themselves.

Nora put on her work ID and was about to head to the crime scene when she caught sight of a familiar figure in her peripheral vision.

The person had clearly seen her too.

Mia pushed through the crowd and rushed over. "Where's Aaron?"

"Did Aaron go looking for you last night?"

Nora frowned. "Ms. Hayes, I'm working. Please leave."

Mia, in her typical spoiled fashion, wouldn't listen and reached out to grab Nora's hair. "Cut the act, Nora!"

"What tricks did you use to lure Aaron to your place? Do you have any idea how scared I was when the complex caught fire?"

Nora raised an eyebrow, looking at the fierce yet pitiful woman in front of her. She pushed her hand away, her voice cold and devoid of emotion.

"First, Aaron and I have broken up."

"Second, you're just Aaron's patient. Whether I used any 'tricks' or not is a private matter between Aaron and me. You have no right to question it."

"Finally, if the complex is on fire, you should call for help. If you're scared, go back to your own home instead of obstructing our work here."

Mia's voice wasn't quiet, and the onlookers were drawn to the drama.

Hearing Nora's words, their gazes shifted between the two women, barely able to contain their excitement.

Mia calmed down a bit after Nora's tirade.
