The Captain I Married by Chance novel Chapter 142

“What are you thinking about?”

Aaron hesitated for a moment before asking, “Mia, did Nora see you just now?”

Mia blew up. “What is that supposed to mean? Do you think I’m someone to be ashamed of?”

Aaron quickly explained, “Of course not. I was just worried she might get the wrong idea…”

“The wrong idea about what? Aaron, you’re going to tell me exactly what you mean right now!”

Panicked, Aaron blurted out, “I’m just worried our plan will be exposed too soon!”

“Weren’t you the one who said you wanted to see Nora kept completely in the dark?”

“If she finds out you were staying at my place, she’ll definitely get suspicious about our relationship, and your whole plan will be ruined, right?”

“And because of that scene you caused at the hospital, she transferred her mother to another facility. Now I can’t even get near her.”

“If Nora gets any more suspicious and cuts ties with us completely, we'll never get our revenge.”

“She transferred her?”

Mia’s attention was instantly diverted. “Why didn’t you tell me sooner?”

“I just found out myself. She said I didn't care enough about her mother because of what happened, so she broke up with me.”

Aaron’s face was etched with displeasure. “Who does Nora think she is, breaking up with me?”

“I hadn’t even gotten around to dumping her, and she has the nerve to do it first? You think I can just let that go?”

Mia, as expected, shared his indignation.

“You’re right.”

“But isn’t her damn mother’s condition so complicated that most hospitals won’t even admit her? Where did she transfer her to?”

Aaron paused, then shook his head. “I don’t know.”

Mia rolled her eyes at him.

“Fine, I’ll look into it.”

Mia had spent so much time setting up this elaborate deception for Nora.
