Nora reflexively wrapped her arms around Nathan's neck.
It wasn't until her wrist brushed against the warm skin of his neck that Nora belatedly realized what she had just done.
She started to let go, but whether the man did it on purpose or not, her body dipped as if she were about to fall.
Nora let out a small cry, her hands tightening around his neck as she pressed herself closer to his body.
The heat from his body seeped through their clothes.
Nora's already dizzy head now felt like it was being baked, unable to think straight.
Nathan saw that her face was flushed a deep crimson, and his brow furrowed.
He had noticed she wasn't well during the meeting, which was why he had wanted to end it early so she could rest.
He never expected her fever to be this high.
And yet she had said nothing, just toughing it out.
Nathan's eyes darkened, his expression a mixture of cold anger.
On the way to the hospital, Nora could sense that the man in the driver's seat was not happy.
But her head was throbbing too much for her to ask why.
By the time they arrived at the hospital, the sky was already beginning to lighten.
After checking into the ER and entering an examination room, the doctor asked Nora how she had caught a chill. Nora lowered her eyes, embarrassed. "I fell asleep in the bathtub."
The doctor and Nathan were both speechless.
"Your temperature is a bit too high. You have a pretty high fever. We're going to give you an injection to bring it down quickly."
The doctor wrote out a prescription for Nora. Just as she was about to take it, another hand reached out faster than hers.
"Go wait in the infusion area for me."
With that, he stood up and left, leaving Nora with only the sight of his tall, broad back.
The doctor pushed his glasses up his nose. "Your boyfriend takes really good care of you."
"So attentive and considerate."
