The Captain I Married by Chance novel Chapter 169

Jacob had come to the station to turn himself in.

The news spread like wildfire throughout the entire department.

Nora saw the special task force team quickly hurrying to the lobby. Forgetting about Nolan, she tossed a quick "I have to go. Mr. Devereaux, you should head home, and please don't come back again" over her shoulder and scurried back into the station.

Nolan called after her several times from behind.

Nora didn't have time to respond, nor did she want to.

Nolan had caused her enough trouble for one day. She still had a headache trying to figure out how to do damage control. The fact that she hadn't blown up at him was already more than generous.

She really wanted nothing to do with a rich kid like him.

"Dr. Hayes."

When the members of the special task force saw Nora arrive, they all greeted her.

Jacob had already been handcuffed. Hearing how others addressed her, he glanced over at Nora.

Sensing his gaze, Nora turned to look at him.

Jacob held her gaze, even giving her a friendly nod.

Nora felt a whirlwind of emotions.

Although Jacob had only said he was turning himself in and hadn't mentioned anything else, the only recent case he could possibly be connected to was the arson at Sunnybrook Residences.

Her gut told her that Jacob's decision to confess was extremely strange.

But he probably wouldn't have turned himself in unless he had solid evidence to offer.

After all, the police wouldn't arrest someone just because they claimed to be a murderer.

He was a college student; he shouldn't make such a mistake.

Taking a deep breath, Nora followed the others to the interrogation room.

Nathan was already waiting inside.

When he saw Nora enter, his gaze only lingered on her for a moment before shifting away.

This left Nora, who had wanted to discuss the matter with him, feeling at a loss.

But now wasn't the time for conversation, so Nora pressed her lips together and remained silent.

Soon, everyone was in position. Jacob sat on the stool, the handcuffs on his wrists reflecting a cold light.
