Amy was Robert's youngest daughter.
She was not even ten years old this year.
The expressions on the officers' faces were grim.
Because whether the accusation was true or false, it was a matter of depravity, a complete loss of morals, and a violation of the law.
"So, is what Amy said true?" the veteran detective asked calmly.
Jacob shook his head frantically. "Of course not!"
"Amy is just a kid. I’ve always looked out for her like she was my own sister. How could I possibly have those kinds of thoughts about her?"
"And I never touched their clothes."
Jacob's words were firm and decisive, carrying a high degree of credibility.
The veteran detective nodded, neither confirming nor denying his belief, and moved on to the next question. "So, after Amy accused you, what did the Carter family do?"
Jacob gave a cold laugh, rolling up his sleeves to reveal arms covered in a crisscrossing web of scars.
"They nearly beat me to death!"
"The old woman took a fruit knife and sliced my hands over and over, saying she'd chop off whichever hand I used to touch Amy."
"Robert eventually stopped her, but then he beat me severely right in front of her and forced me to write an apology before letting me go."
"They wouldn't take me to a hospital. I had to get my injuries treated at the school clinic after I went back."
Nora noticed Nathan subtly lift the hand hanging at his side.
Immediately, someone opened the door and walked out, presumably to retrieve the relevant records from the school.
"It took me over two months to recover from those injuries. During that time, my grades started to slip."
