The Captain I Married by Chance novel Chapter 179

Aaron took some time at home to freshen up and even ordered an express flower delivery.

Thinking Nora would probably be hungry around this time, Aaron also ordered a lavish takeout meal.

When he arrived at the police station entrance, laden with bags, he was escorted to an interrogation room before he could even say a word.

Seeing the familiar small table, small chair, and bare room, Aaron was dumbfounded.

"We're just going to chat in here?"

"That's right."

The officer took out a notebook, ready to take notes. "This is where we usually take statements."

"Where's Nora?"

Aaron clutched the flowers in one hand and the takeout box in the other.

His hair was slicked back with gel, revealing a smooth forehead.

The expensive cologne on his suit filled the air.

Every detail about him screamed sophistication and meticulousness.

Unfortunately, it was all completely wasted on them.

His getup made him look like a clown in this setting.

The officer, a true professional, had only given Aaron a once-over when he first arrived.

After that, he paid no attention to his appearance.

"Dr. Hayes is in a meeting with the task force."

Aaron's grip on the flowers tightened. "Could you ask her to take my statement?"

The officer frowned. "Mr. Wells, would you mind repeating the first two words of my last sentence?"

Aaron was confused but did as he was told. "Dr. Hayes?"

"Yes, that's right. Those are the words."

The officer gave Aaron a humorless smile. "Dr. Hayes may be involved in the case, but she's a forensic pathologist. She doesn't conduct interrogations."

"Mr. Wells, please take a seat in that chair, and we'll begin."

"The fact that I even came to the station at this hour is cooperation enough. What more do you want?"

"Besides, you're the ones who can't solve the case. It has nothing to do with me."

"I didn't kill anyone, I didn't commit a crime. What are you going to do, arrest me?"

Aaron placed the flowers on the table. "Get Nora in here. I guarantee that if she asks, I'll tell her everything. Otherwise, I won't say a single word."

The two officers exchanged a look. Eager to find a lead as soon as possible, they decided to contact Nora.

When Nora received the call, the discussion in the conference room was just wrapping up.

It was indeed getting late, and Nathan told everyone to go get some rest.

Nora had planned to wait at the station for the new statement from Aaron before heading back, but then she heard about his demand to see her.

Nathan, who was grabbing his coat, saw Nora's frustrated expression and asked casually what was wrong.

Nora told him everything.

Nathan pursed his lips and nodded toward the door. "Let's go. I'll go with you."
