The Captain I Married by Chance novel Chapter 184

"To put it in one sentence, it's 'The old man and his kids.'"

Nora didn't know whether to laugh or cry at Nathan's summary.

"You're—"

Before she could finish, she suddenly realized something and stared at Nathan intently. "You knew all along?"

Nathan shrugged. "Only a little bit before you did."

Nora didn't buy it. "What did you see this time? Another footprint?"

She vividly remembered how Nathan had deduced the killer in Chloe's case from a single footprint.

"No, this time I learned from you."

Nora was speechless.

She'd sooner believe pigs could fly than trust a word out of Nathan's mouth.

"Be serious."

She was trying to have a serious discussion about the case with him.

Why was he messing around?

Nathan gave her a helpless look. "I really did learn from you."

Slightly annoyed, Nora glared at him and turned to walk away.

Nathan quickly caught up.

"Nor—"

"Nora!"

His word was cut off by Aaron's delighted voice.

Nathan stopped and looked at Aaron, who was standing at the entrance of the police station, having waited for who knows how long. His gaze turned cold.

Aaron was still holding the bouquet and the takeout bag.

After so long, the food was probably cold.

Sure enough, Aaron said with some embarrassment, "I checked a moment ago, and the food's cold. Nora, let's go home, and I'll make you a late-night snack? You must be hungry after working so long."

"Please, just give me a chance to explain, okay?"

Nora was truly annoyed with Aaron but was also afraid he'd cling to her like a ghost.

After a moment's thought, she agreed.

"Let's go."

Aaron was overjoyed. "Then you can ride in my car."

Nora frowned. "Forget it. Who knows what you've done in that car."

That one sentence made Aaron so embarrassed he could have died on the spot.
