"Nora, ignore him!"
Aaron wasn't an idiot. Once was an accident, twice was deliberate.
It was obvious this Nathan guy was doing it on purpose to annoy him. He stood in front of Nora, trying to stop her from answering the door.
But Nora just shot him a look, her voice icy. "Aaron, that's my boss out there. Who do you think you are?"
Aaron instantly deflated.
Nora took an unopened bottle of oil to the door.
Nathan took it, a hint of a smile in his voice. "I'm not interrupting anything, am I?"
Aaron, whose knees were so numb he could barely stand, grimaced.
*Look at this jerk! He knows he's interrupting, but he still asks with that fake-innocent tone. Don't they do character checks for detectives anymore? How does a manipulative guy like him get the job?*
"Not at all."
Nora waved her hand. "Go make your snack. I'm really hungry."
Hearing this, Nathan gave Nora a deep look. "Alright."
He turned and left.
Nora watched him go into his apartment before closing her own door.
"Aaron, if you have something to say, say it quickly. Then get out."
For someone as territorial as Nora, having Aaron in her personal space was torture.
She felt like he had contaminated her entire apartment.
As soon as this case was over, she was definitely hiring a cleaning service to deep clean and disinfect the whole place.
"I—"
*Knock, knock, knock.*
The sound was like a demonic chant in his ears.
Aaron felt like an overinflated balloon, full of pent-up anger that desperately needed to be released.
