"Nora, are you okay?" Nolan sniffled, seemingly having cried all his tears out.

Nora gave a curt nod, her focus immediately shifting to assess their surroundings. They were inside what appeared to be The Abandoned Warehouse. Miscellaneous junk was piled haphazardly into the corners. In the center sat a large workbench, flanked by various tools dangling from thick ropes. Some parts of the table were clean, while others were caked in dust, indicating the tools were still used occasionally.

"How did you end up here?" Compared to Nolan's blubbering mess, Nora was so calm she barely looked like a kidnapping victim.

Perhaps infected by her unshakable composure—or simply desperate not to look like a total coward in front of her—Nolan forced himself to stop shaking. "I don't remember," he whimpered.

Nora arched an eyebrow. "Do you remember the charity gala?"

"The gala?" Nolan squinted in thought. Suddenly, his eyes lit up. "Right! Someone whacked me in the back of the head! It hurt so much, I legitimately thought I was going to die. When I opened my eyes, I was here. I kept screaming, asking who was there and who hit me. Then this voice told me I was being too loud. I smelled something weird, and I passed out again. I have no idea how long I was out, but when I woke up the second time, you were here. Nora, what the hell is going on?"

Seeing the clear, unclouded honesty in his eyes, Nora deduced he wasn't lying. "Rosalind is dead," she said bluntly. "And you are the prime suspect."

Nolan froze solid. "What? Rosalind is dead? Nora, please tell me you're joking."

Assuming she didn't believe him, Nolan panicked. "I swear, nothing happened! Nora, you have to believe me. When I found out she slapped you, I went to give her a piece of my mind. But she just laughed, called me a pathetic lapdog, and started running. I thought she was a total psycho and was just going to ignore her. But then she yelled that if I didn't stay away from you, she'd beat you up every time she saw you! I got so mad I chased after her. But while she was talking, she just... slipped and fell. And I saw her smiling!"

Terrified by his own memory, Nolan trembled. "She looked so incredibly smug. I honestly thought she was faking it. At that moment, I only had one thought—she hit you and ruined my dad's charity auction. I couldn't think straight, so I ran for the stairs to tell my dad. But the second I reached the stairwell, someone knocked me out."

Noticing that Nolan's ropes had some slack, Nora instructed him. "Reach back and feel the back of your head."

"Why? Do you think I'm lying? I'm not!"
