The Captain I Married by Chance novel Chapter 248

"Yes, Captain." The officers immediately sprang into action.

Nathan noticed one of the security guards looking exceptionally pale. He walked over. "You saw something, didn't you?"

The guard shrank back, seemingly frozen by the cold fury radiating from Nathan. "I... I don't know if the woman I saw was the one you're looking for," he stammered. "We were all joking around, and I got up to grab some water. When I glanced at the screens, I thought I saw a woman walking out of the elevator."

"Impossible," Nathan said sharply. "I was on the phone with her just seconds prior. If she had to leave suddenly, she would have sent me a message."

"Then I don't know... I only caught a quick glimpse of a back. I can't be sure."

Nathan's expression darkened further. "Did anyone else come into this security room today?"

"Actually, yes," another guard chimed in nervously. "The Delivery Guy came in earlier. He said someone stole his food order and begged us to let him check the cameras to see who took it." The guard's eyes widened in realization. "Now that I think about it, the order was for your building! He said he left his bike out front, and the food vanished. He made a huge fuss. It's against protocol, but he was crying and looked so pathetic, so we let him look at the footage for that specific timeframe."

"Did he find anything?"

"No... He watched for a few minutes, then suddenly claimed he remembered dropping the food off early and just forgot. Then he left."

Nathan committed the detail to memory. As soon as the tech team arrived, he ordered them to pull the footage of the delivery driver.

"Captain, there is absolutely no footage of this delivery driver anywhere on the servers," a technician announced.

Gasps echoed around the room.

"It was him! He hacked the system!"

"Can you recover the original feed?" Nathan demanded. This guy was undoubtedly connected to Rosalind's murder. He had come highly prepared. While it made no sense why the killer would target Nora, they needed to find this man immediately.

"It'll take time."
