The Captain I Married by Chance novel Chapter 259

Mr. Devereaux wanted to negotiate further, but the kidnapper dropped his gaze, making it explicitly clear that discussions were over.

Having exhausted himself trying to reason with the man to no avail, Mr. Devereaux had no choice but to agree. With his son in the crosshairs, he simply couldn't gamble with his life.

Throwing down a final, "I'm getting the money now, but if you touch a hair on his head, I will end you," he ended the video call and scrambled to mobilize the funds.

Anticipating a ransom demand the moment Nolan vanished, he had already prepared the capital. It wouldn't take him thirty minutes to scrape together a hundred million. He just needed to rush to the scene and strategize the rescue with the police face-to-face.

Mr. Devereaux strode out of his office, running straight into his nephew, Felix Kwan.

"Uncle, how is Nolan?" Felix asked.

Mr. Devereaux shook his head wearily. "He's been kidnapped."

Shock flashed in Felix's eyes. "Kidnapped? How is that even possible?"

"When he vanished, I knew it wasn't a simple disappearance," Mr. Devereaux replied. "I just didn't expect someone to pull off a snatch-and-grab right under the security cameras."

Felix pinched the bridge of his nose, seemingly recalling the hours they'd wasted at the estate giving multiple statements to the police. "What do we do now? If we pay the ransom, will they let him go? Is Nolan in immediate danger?"

Mr. Devereaux shook his head. "I don't know, but right now, following orders is our only option. By the way, how is the PR situation?"
