The Captain I Married by Chance novel Chapter 261

When Nora Hayes opened her eyes again, she was already in the hospital.

The wounds on her wrists had been treated, the stinging sensation eased, and the heavy exhaustion had vanished.

She stared blankly, recalling the events that had just unfolded.

After the kidnapper surrendered, he was taken to the police station.

Nathan Peyton had loaded her and Nolan Devereaux, who had a broken arm, into an ambulance before leaving in a police cruiser.

Nora had been so exhausted on the way to the hospital that she had fallen fast asleep.

She had no idea how many hours she had been out.

"You're awake?"

The door to the ward was pushed open, and Aaron Wells stood in the doorway with a complicated expression.

Nora raised an eyebrow, making no effort to hide the disgust in her eyes.

Aaron looked as though her reaction had physically stung him, stumbling back half a step.

"Nora..."

He looked at her with a mournful expression. "Are you still blaming me?"

Nora had zero desire to entertain this lingering jerk.

Calculating the distance, the hospital where Aaron worked was indeed the closest one to the abandoned warehouse.

So it wasn't surprising she ended up here.

However, running into him like this was highly suspect.

Setting aside the fact that Aaron was supposed to be on vacation.

With so many emergency patients coming in every day, there was no way he just happened to show up at her door without some deliberate maneuvering.

"Nora—"

"Dr. Hayes! We're here to see you!"

A booming voice cut off Aaron's words.

A large group marched down the hall, shoving Aaron to the side as they filed into the room.

Nora looked at her colleagues from the Special Task Force in surprise.
