The Captain I Married by Chance novel Chapter 304

Mia had laughed gleefully at that.

Aaron hadn't understood why at the time, only vaguely sensing her intense dislike for Nora.

It had gotten to the point where he routinely dragged Nora down just to please Mia.

Thinking about it now, Mia had obviously known Nora beforehand. She probably only approached him just to spite her.

Mia Hayes... Nora Hayes... Leonard Hayes...

They all shared the same last name.

Recalling the Devereaux charity auction where all three of them were present, and how deferential Mr. Devereaux had been to Nora, Aaron suddenly realized he had missed a massive clue.

"Could it be..."

He snapped his head up, staring wide-eyed at Mia.

"Is Nora your sister?"

Mia, who had been ready to scream at him, froze as if someone hit the pause button.

"What?"

She looked at him in genuine shock.

How did he put that together?

Did Nora actually tell him about her background?

No, if she could, Nora would change her last name to match Grace's. She hated Leonard to his core and would never willingly bring up her family.

Which meant... Aaron figured it out himself.

Mia wasn't entirely surprised. Nora did resemble Leonard, after all.

Anyone who spent enough time around them could easily connect the dots.

Knowing Nora was about to get married, Mia no longer cared if Aaron knew the truth.

She knew her sister's personality. Once Nora tossed a man aside, she would never look back.

Mia burst into laughter.

"We share a father, that hardly makes us sisters."

"Besides, you despised her too, didn't you? So drop the devoted lover act."

"I only..." Aaron's face stiffened.

Realizing he had truly thrown away a gold mine, he couldn't hold back his crushing regret.

Unable to waste another second, he turned and stormed toward the door.

"Stop right there!"

Mia screamed at his retreating back. "Aaron, if you walk out that door, I will make you pay!"

Aaron ignored her, quickening his pace.

A vicious glint flashed in Mia's eyes. She grabbed a vase from the nearby table and smashed it violently into the back of Aaron's head.
