The Captain I Married by Chance novel Chapter 319

Nathan's sudden appearance plunged the hospital room into dead silence.

Leonard stared fixedly at the man in front of him. His lips trembled in disbelief, his pupils dilating. "You're—"

For a split second, Nora thought Leonard had recognized Nathan's true identity and was considering stepping forward to pull Nathan away.

But Nathan simply stood in the doorway, calm and composed. He completely ignored Leonard's intense stare, keeping his eyes entirely on Nora. He didn't glance away for a second.

Being watched like that made Nora feel a bit guilty.

She had never told Nathan about her messy family drama.

She hadn't expected their first "meet the parents" moment to be this awkward.

While Nora was trying to figure out where to look, Leonard had already masked his shock, replacing it with a grave expression. "Aren't you the detective who handled Rosalind's suicide case the other day?"

"You're the one trying to marry my daughter?"

Hearing this, Nora breathed a sigh of relief. She looked at Nathan, her eyes laced with concern.

Nathan gave her a steady, reassuring look.

He finally pulled his gaze from her. When he looked at Leonard, the warmth in his eyes vanished instantly, replaced by a bone-chilling cold.

Even with all his worldly experience, Leonard felt a jolt of fear from Nathan's glare.

"What kind of look is that? Was I wrong?"

Leonard was the elder here; even if he was intimidated, he couldn't back down.

He stiffened his neck and tried to sound authoritative.

Nora hadn't expected Nathan to be this intimidating. She watched him, utterly fascinated by the man radiating such intense dominance.

To her, Nathan was like a book she hadn't finished.

She never knew what version of him she would find on the next page.

"Please speak with a bit more accuracy."

"The woman I'm going to marry is Ms. Nora Hayes."

"Not your daughter."
