The Captain I Married by Chance novel Chapter 330

A low sigh rumbled from the man right above her head.

The sound was so incredibly seductive that she couldn't stop the flush creeping onto her cheeks.

"What are you doing...?"

She was completely failing to read him.

Was he mad or not?

"If I were acting rationally, I would warn you to run away while you still can."

"But I don't want to do that," Nathan murmured.

"Nora, I genuinely can't do it."

She was utterly bewildered.

"Why would you warn me to run?"

Was something terrible about to happen?

Hearing her completely oblivious tone, he felt a mix of helplessness and immense joy.

But more than anything, he felt an overwhelming tenderness for her.

Very few people her age still possessed such pure, unfiltered innocence.

She was sharp and intuitive when it came to reading situations, and she carried herself with composed elegance, but when it came to matters of the heart, she was completely clueless.

He wasn't going to tell her just how badly he had wanted to grab her and whisk her away when she stood in front of him with her slender frame, fiercely defending him against everything.

The possessiveness roaring inside him was like wild, twisting vines, making him crave nothing more than to hide her away where only he could ever see her.

He wanted her to belong entirely to him, to look only at him, and then...

He forced his mind to slam the brakes.

He didn't dare let his thoughts drift any further.

He was terrified he would scare the woman trembling in his arms.

But with her soft, warm body pressed against his, even his ironclad self-control was slipping, his breathing growing noticeably heavier.

He hastily pressed a few disorganized kisses to the top of her head before gently releasing her and stepping back to put some much-needed distance between them.

She looked even more confused.

"What are you doing?"

He took a deep breath, slowly reining himself in before taking her hand. "Nothing."

"You are just too adorable. I lost control for a second. Did I scare you?"
