The Captain I Married by Chance novel Chapter 366

Nora rolled her eyes. "We've been having this exact same conversation since college. Aren't you tired of it?"

"No!"

"You genetic lottery winners are infuriating!"

Nora let out a helpless laugh.

"Well, do you want to come sleep with the genetic lottery winner, or not? I thought you said you were exhausted from traveling."

Valerie wanted to act petty and refuse.

But her body betrayed her.

Without another word of protest, she linked her arm through Nora's. "Fine, let's go. We can gossip in bed."

Nora and Valerie disappeared into the bedroom, the door clicking shut behind them. Their soft voices were muffled against the walls.

Next door in his own apartment, Nathan finished replying to an update from the precinct. Out of habit, he opened his messages to text Nora and see if she was asleep.

He paused, realizing the two friends probably had endless things to catch up on. Chuckling softly to himself, he set the phone down.

Let them have their girl talk.

As the night deepened, lights across the city flicked off one by one.

But online, the scandal surrounding Michael Devereaux continued to fester. Some spent the entire night tearing him apart, while others aggressively tried to bury the news.

The next morning, Nora was jolted awake by a high-pitched scream.

Rubbing her heavy eyes, she sat up slowly. "What's wrong?"

They had stayed up talking until the early hours, and Nora's brain was still in a fog.

"Nora, Michael is trending!"

Nora's mind blanked for a solid second before she remembered who Michael was.

"Isn't he a celebrity? They trend all the time."

"Yeah, but not like this."

Valerie's outrage was a little intense.

Actually, if Michael really was gay, clarifying a simple rumor might be easier than dealing with worse controversies.

"You said yourself it's fake. I'm sure his PR team will issue a statement soon. Don't stress yourself out over it."

"It's not worth ruining your health over."

Valerie knew she was right.

She just couldn't help being furious.

"They probably knew he was hosting a fan event soon and dropped this specifically to sabotage it and hurt his supporters."

"We didn't do anything wrong! We just wanted to see our idol. The world is going crazy."

Nora patted Valerie's shoulder to comfort her, glancing at the clock. She decided to get up and wash her face.

"I'm going to meet Harold Peyton today. Want to come with me?"
