The Captain I Married by Chance novel Chapter 378

Michael waved a dismissive hand.

"It's fine."

His voice was rich and magnetic, like the low hum of a cello.

But perhaps he really was exhausted, as his tone carried a rough, scratchy edge.

Quinn's worry only deepened. "How can it be fine when you sound like that? Shh, don't speak. Let me handle everything!"

"Ronan, Robin, take good care of Michael."

"We still have a mountain of events lined up. The schedule is packed tight. If he gets sick now, we'll have to cancel everything!"

"We won't be able to explain it to the event organizers."

Michael's long lashes fluttered at her words, perhaps genuinely concerned about the tight itinerary.

Nora didn't watch them any longer. She guided Sophie back to their quiet corner.

"Tell me exactly what happened."

Sophie was still rattled, but having Nora there finally gave her an anchor.

"I honestly don't know..."

Sophie couldn't tell if she was just cursed lately.

She was already drowning in messy family problems, and now she had this nightmare to deal with.

The fact that it involved a major celebrity terrified her.

If he posted a single vague complaint online, his rabid fanbase would doxx her and ruin her life.

The more Sophie thought about it, the more violently she shook.

"I actually left work early today..."

But she never complained. Growing up surrounded by her parents' love had shaped her into a bright, optimistic person.

As soon as she got the call, she requested time off and rushed toward the hospital.

"While driving, I couldn't stop worrying about my dad. And then..."

Sophie bit her lip, suddenly looking deeply embarrassed.

Nora waited patiently, never rushing her.

That silence seemed to give Sophie the courage she needed. "The guy I've had a crush on for years just made it official with my best friend."

"I saw the post while sitting at a traffic light. I was so distracted that I didn't realize the light had turned red. I accidentally hit the gas and tapped the bumper of the car in front of me."

"But because we were coming up to the intersection, I was already braking, so I wasn't going fast at all."

"When I realized what I'd done, I freaked out. I immediately got out to apologize. But the second I walked over, the people inside shoved me back and started screaming at me, calling me an obsessed stalker and telling me to get the hell away from them."
