Her voice was a bit piercing in the conference room.
People who had been busy discussing the case stopped and looked over at Nora.
"What's wrong?"
Nathan crossed the room in a few quick strides and stopped beside her.
Nora didn't have time to care about the stares. She pointed at the figures on the surveillance feed and looked up at him. "These people are Michael and his crew!"
Hearing that familiar name, everyone in the room froze.
They looked up, their eyes locking onto the people in the video.
"Are you sure?"
"Yes," Nora replied without hesitation.
She completely trusted Valerie's judgment.
Besides, she had seen those men going upstairs with her own eyes.
Nora wasn't exactly sure why they had appeared on the twenty-eighth floor, but if they had walked down that corridor, Maisie would have recognized them instantly if she had seen them.
A die-hard fan's radar for their idol was absolutely flawless.
"Check exactly when Maisie left her room at that time."
Nathan and Nora were clearly on the exact same wavelength.
An officer quickly scrubbed through the footage and soon had the answer. "Right after these people went up, Maisie stepped out of her room. She went back inside about ten minutes later."
Nora narrowed her eyes.
Losing her appetite entirely, she pushed her takeout container aside.
"Pull up the video of Maisie returning to her room. I want to see it."
The officer complied.
Nora slowed the playback speed down to the absolute minimum, scrutinizing the footage frame by frame.
It didn't take long for her to spot the discrepancy.
"There's something wrong with this Maisie."
Nora pointed at the figure heading back to room 2801. "Maisie is left-handed, but this person habitually uses her right hand to press the elevator button when heading down."
"And when she walked out, she was a beat late. As the elevator doors were closing, she instinctively used her right hand to block them."
"Bring Michael and his team in."
Even though there was no concrete proof yet that the people in the video were Michael and his crew.
Since Maisie's incident happened in 2901, bringing his team in for questioning was completely justified.
Nathan hadn't been lying to Toby Gunn earlier; Quinn really was not going to have any time to bother him now.
As everyone dispersed to get back to work, Nora sat back down and resumed eating.
Nathan touched the side of her container, clicking his tongue softly. "Why didn't you finish eating before jumping into the discussion?"
Nora shrugged, totally unfazed. "It's not the first time. The temperature is still fine. If it gets too cold, I'll just pop it in the microwave."
Nathan gave her a helpless look. "Eat faster next time."
Nora pouted. "I've been like this since I was a kid. It's not like I can just magically speed up just because you say so."
Besides, if there was a real emergency—like an urgent autopsy—she would scarf down her food in record time to keep her energy up.
Or she would just handle the job first and eat whenever she finished.
Eating slowly had never caused a delay in her actual work.
