The Captain I Married by Chance novel Chapter 445

Having just had the door slammed in his face by Nora, Aaron was already a mess of anxiety and frustration.

Hearing Mia's condescending, imperious tone completely shattered his fragile control.

"What wedding for the Peyton family heir? You never mentioned anything about a wedding!"

All she had told him was that she was trying on dresses today.

She bought clothes and jewelry every single day. He wasn't some unemployed loser with endless free time—how was he supposed to act like a personal servant, constantly hovering around her?

"If I didn't tell you, couldn't you have asked?"

Mia scoffed, her tone dripping with disdain. "Are you mute? Aaron, have you forgotten your place?"

"You dare talk back to me? You have ten minutes to get your ass over here, or you're dead!"

Mia hung up the phone before he could respond.

Listening to the dial tone, Aaron's face shifted from pure bewilderment to raw regret.

If he had known she was this vile, he would have rather died than betray Nora for someone like her!

He had been so close to getting everything he wanted, only to lose it all over one misstep.

No, he absolutely refused to just sit here and take it!

He stared at the towering precinct building, as if his gaze could pierce the concrete to find the woman he desperately wanted back.

"As long as she isn't married, there's still a chance."

Aaron gritted his teeth. "I refuse to believe seven years of history can just be erased like that."

"Besides, there isn't a man alive who wouldn't be bothered by his fiancée having a seven-year history with someone else."

"It's too much baggage. No man wants a woman who's been with someone else for a decade."

The more he rationalized it, the more his confidence surged. Eventually, a twisted smile broke across his face.

A dark, twisted malice began bleeding from the cracks.

His eyes darkened with a cold, predatory shadow.

He kept his gaze glued to the floor, holding his cheek, terrified that Mia would notice the murderous rage building inside him.

"I'm trying on dresses, and you bring me cupcakes? Are you trying to make me fat?"

"You useless piece of trash! What good are you even for?"

Aaron's fingers twitched violently.

It took every ounce of willpower in his body to swallow the inferno of rage threatening to burst from his throat.

Taking a slow, shuddering breath, he looked up at her, his voice submissive and scraping the bottom of the barrel. "I'm sorry, Mia. That was thoughtless of me."

"If you don't want them, you don't have to eat them. I'll throw them away right now so they don't ruin your mood."
