With that, Aaron took the cupcakes and headed toward the exit.
Spotting a trash can by the door, he quickly tossed the box inside.
As he turned around, he caught the hushed whispers of several female clients lingering near the front.
"Wow, he just took that? What a total doormat."
"Shh, look at their clothes. It's obvious who holds the purse strings. If he wants to be a sugar baby, that's his problem. Just enjoy the show."
"They definitely don't look like a loving couple."
"Haha, we all know the deal. Let's just keep it to ourselves."
Hearing their mockery, Aaron wished the floor would swallow him whole.
He had spent his entire life being the golden boy everyone admired and envied. To be reduced to a pathetic joke in the eyes of total strangers was unbearable.
His hatred for Mia skyrocketed.
Yet, the more he despised her, the calmer his demeanor became.
He was swallowing every ounce of this humiliation for a reason. He was going to get exactly what he wanted.
Otherwise, he wouldn't be able to die in peace.
"What took you so long?"
Mia had already picked out a stunning gown. Seeing him return, she snapped her complaint before turning to a stylist. "Find him a suit to match. It needs to compliment this dress perfectly."
The stylist nodded politely. "Sir, please follow me."
Aaron secretly let out a breath of relief.
"Thank you."
They walked out of the studio together. Aaron hesitated for a moment before cautiously asking, "So, what's the deal with this Peyton family heir's wedding?"
Mia was in an excellent mood after securing the perfect dress. She shot him a sidelong glance, wrapping her arm around his with a saccharine smile. "It's the wedding of Harold Peyton's grandson. The sole heir to Peyton Pharmaceuticals."
"My dad pulled some serious strings to get us these invitations, so you better remember to make a good impression. The Peytons are titans in the pharmaceutical industry, and the Hayes Group owns several hospitals. If we can lock down a partnership with them, my family will be swimming in cash!"
Aaron hummed in understanding. Just as he was about to reply, a strange thought struck him. "What's the heir's name? Why haven't I ever heard of him?"
Mia clicked her tongue. "He's Harold Peyton's only grandson. Do you really think they'd just parade him around for the press? They've clearly kept him fiercely protected."
"As for his name, my dad didn't mention it. We'll find out when we see him at the wedding, won't we? It's just a name, what does it matter?"
Even though she dismissed it so easily, a heavy, unsettling feeling settled in Aaron's gut.
"Nora's fiancé is also named Peyton..."
