Nora had originally planned to sit in on Michael's interrogation, but decided against it.
She figured it was better to wait outside for Nathan to deliver the final blow.
"We aren't holding you here without cause."
Nathan's cold voice cut through the air before he even stepped fully into the room.
Quinn stiffened at the familiar voice.
But she quickly masked her panic, slipping back into her polished, haughty persona. She instinctively tried to stand up to greet him, only to be yanked painfully back down by the cuffs securing her to the table.
Her face drained of color, a dark, murderous storm brewing in her eyes.
"What exactly is the meaning of this, Officer Peyton?"
Taking a deep breath, she clung desperately to the arrogance of an elite talent manager. "Michael was personally invited to Luminport City to act as a promotional ambassador. And yet, the moment we arrived, we were treated like common criminals."
"I believe you owe us a very good explanation."
"He may just be an entertainer, but he has basic human rights. He has a right to legal protection."
"If you can't provide us with a legitimate justification for this treatment, we will have no choice but to take this to the public and let the internet decide."
Her words dripped with venom.
Sitting in an interrogation room, instead of asking for a lawyer, she was threatening to unleash the fury of the internet on them. It was a blatant, desperate power play.
Nathan didn't even flinch. He gave her a short, dismissive nod and ordered, "Sit."
Quinn was entirely unprepared for his icy calm. She stared at him with mounting dread. This man, who was somehow even more striking than the celebrities she managed, radiated pure authority.
"Officer Peyton, what are you trying to do?"
"I am going to ask you some questions," Nathan replied smoothly. "If I am satisfied with your answers, you can leave."
Quinn stared at him in disbelief. "It's that simple?"
She had been trapped in this room for hours.
Behind the two-way glass, Nora's heart skipped a terrifying beat.
She immediately looked at Quinn. The manager sat completely frozen, her eyes wide, staring at Nathan as if he were speaking a foreign language.
Nathan, possessing endless patience, asked again.
"You killed Maisie Shaw, didn't you?"
The words were nearly identical, but the suffocating weight behind them was undeniable.
Quinn slammed her hand onto the metal table, her outrage terrifyingly convincing. "Is this how the police operate, Officer Peyton?"
"You can't just throw wild accusations around! You're calling me a murderer—where is your proof?"
Nathan wasn't the least bit surprised by her explosion. In fact, he looked exactly like a man watching a trap snap shut.
"Then Michael killed her."
