The Captain I Married by Chance novel Chapter 452

"But she felt that if she turned her passion into a job, it would become a burden the second she stopped adoring him. So, she preferred things the way they were."

Naturally, Quinn respected her decision.

After all, a fan driven by pure devotion was far more beneficial to Michael's career than a paid employee.

Quinn had reached out to Maisie first about this specific fan meetup.

"Actually, it wasn't just Maisie. We contacted all the hardcore fans our team knew personally and offered them VIP tickets."

"Everyone else was ecstatic, but Maisie declined."

"She made an excuse about being too busy, but we all knew it was just a polite brush-off. I assumed she just had some weird quirk about official events, so I didn't think much of it."

She never expected Maisie to sneak into the event entirely on her own.

A bitter, incredulous laugh escaped Quinn's lips at the memory.

"If I had known she was planning to show up incognito just to experience the thrill of 'chasing her idol,' I would have dragged her in there tied to a chair!"

As a veteran superfan, Maisie was so obsessed she could probably spot Michael in a massive crowd just by the shape of his hand.

That day, Michael and his team were all mingling with familiar faces. Maisie had left her hotel room door open while touching up her makeup because she felt the room was too stuffy.

And by some twisted stroke of fate, a single glance into her mirror showed her the exact man she had been dreaming about walking down the hallway.

"Maisie followed him upstairs... and saw things she never should have seen."

Quinn squeezed her eyes shut, clearly still struggling to process the nightmare.

"What did she see?"

Nathan wasn't one to indulge in idle gossip.

But for a celebrity team to risk committing murder, whatever Maisie witnessed must have been enough to utterly obliterate Michael's career.

"She caught Michael on a date with his boyfriend."

Having gotten what he needed, Nathan stood up. "We'll hand the rest of this over to the processing unit."

Quinn gave a lifeless nod.

They could hire the best lawyers money could buy, but regardless of how much prison time they served, Michael's career was dead and buried.

And so was hers.

But perhaps it was a blessing in disguise. If the nightmare could finally end here, it might just be worth it.

Her tightly pursed lips had just begun to relax when Nathan suddenly paused at the door. He turned back, his gaze piercing. "I have one more question."

The tension instantly slammed back into Quinn's chest.

"What is it?"

Realizing how stiff her voice sounded, she cleared her throat. "Is there something else you need to know, Mr. Peyton?"
