Nora was speechless.
"Whoever you are, get out of Nathan's body right now."
Seeing her utterly exasperated expression, he laughed out loud.
"Alright, I'll stop teasing. Let me lock the car, and we'll go up together."
She tried her best to hold it back, but ended up rolling her eyes anyway.
Seriously, who was the one acting like a child here?
As if reading her mind, he gave her fingers a gentle squeeze. "Cursing me out in your head?"
Startled, she looked up, meeting his teasing gaze, and instantly knew he was just messing with her.
Rubbing her temples in mild annoyance, she asked, "Did your old team know you were secretly like this?"
He shook his head solemnly. "Not a clue."
She rolled her eyes again. "Then why couldn't you keep up the aloof act with me?"
He answered with complete, devastating sincerity. "Because I don't believe in holding anything back from the person I love."
Nora was completely floored.
She had never realized he possessed such a shameless side. She wisely chose to keep her mouth shut.
He didn't push his luck any further. They took the elevator up, instantly spotting the Special Task Force team raiding the buffet area.
"You made it! Hurry up, everyone's grabbing food!"
She waved back at the colleague who had called out. "I'm going to drop off my stuff. Be right back," she said to Nathan, before heading toward the massive round table they had claimed.
The restaurant didn't have private dining rooms, so their large group sitting at such a big table stood out a bit.
