The Captain I Married by Chance novel Chapter 483

"Moving along as expected."

"Do you have something going on tomorrow?"

Nora recalled the blind date Valerie had mentioned earlier.

She raised an eyebrow and teased, "Don't tell me you want me to tag along to meet your blind date?"

"Nora Hayes, are you a mind reader!"

Valerie gasped, realizing right after that they were on the phone, not face-to-face. Telepathy seemed highly unlikely.

"Are you spying on me from somewhere?"

Nora didn't know whether to laugh or cry.

"The entertainment industry really missed out when you didn't become a screenwriter."

If Valerie had poured her dramatic energy into writing scripts, there wouldn't be nearly as many terrible TV shows to complain about.

"I'll take that as a compliment."

Valerie huffed playfully. "Alright, enough joking around. Let's talk business. Are you actually free tomorrow?"

Nora thought about it. "Barring any emergencies, I shouldn't be too busy."

She had already finished all her immediate tasks. Nora had originally planned to visit Frank's ranch tomorrow.

However, since the ranch had been sold for a while, any remaining evidence was likely to be scarce.

The rest of the Forensics Division would be assisting tomorrow anyway, so her absence wouldn't really affect the investigation.

"Then come with me tomorrow. Julian Croft called me out of the blue to set up a meeting, and I couldn't find a way out of it."

Nora raised an eyebrow in surprise.

"You couldn't find a way out? Is he that pushy?"

Valerie might seem carefree and easygoing, but deep down, she was as stubborn as a mule.

Otherwise, her family wouldn't have compromised and let her study journalism, putting half a foot into the media industry.

Her family knew better than anyone just how headstrong she could be.

If they hadn't backed down, it would have been mutually assured destruction. Naturally, her parents had caved.

Besides, Valerie had become increasingly successful over the years, and her family's attitude had gradually shifted. They were now incredibly proud of her.

Nora was genuinely happy for her friend.
