The Captain I Married by Chance novel Chapter 484

"I set it up for lunch. If we click, maybe we'll catch a movie in the afternoon or something."

"And we could always grab dinner together afterward."

Nora chuckled softly. "You really thought this through."

"So you're actually looking forward to this date?"

Valerie sounded a bit shy. "Well, you said he was a decent guy, right? I just figured I'd go check him out."

Valerie would never admit that seeing Nora and Nathan so happy together had made her crave a little romance of her own.

She had always had high standards. It wasn't like she lacked suitors, but none of them checked all her boxes.

Simply put, Valerie cared about money the least.

But society was what it was. Without wealth to polish a person, many of them were just unimpressive.

On top of that, she was picky about looks and personality.

Just looking at her former idol, Michael, proved that she liked mature, steady, and devastatingly handsome men.

Those traits were either God-given or cultivated by a life of luxury.

As a result, Valerie hadn't met her Mr. Right yet.

"I'm really hoping this one turns out well."

Valerie groaned. "My mom has been hounding me non-stop, especially after she found out you were getting married."

Nora paused.

"Me?"

"Yeah."

"Did you forget? When my mom visited me in college, she held onto you and wouldn't let go. She absolutely adores you."

"When she heard you were tying the knot, she told me to give you a massive wedding gift, including her share."

Nora was touched. She hadn't expected Valerie's mother to still remember her after all these years.

"There's no need for money, but please thank her for me."

"I'll go visit her when I have some free time."

"Haha, sounds like a plan."
