The Captain I Married by Chance novel Chapter 486

She nodded, then remembered Valerie's plans and mentioned to Nathan that she'd be taking tomorrow off.

"You're going on a blind date with Valerie?"

Nathan's expression instantly darkened.

Seeing his displeasure, Nora hesitated before clarifying, "Technically, she's going on the blind date. I'm just tagging along as the third wheel."

Nathan shot her a look. "It's still a blind date."

Nora was speechless.

"How does that make any sense?"

By his logic, if someone was on a blind date in a restaurant, the whole place automatically turned into a singles mixer.

How ridiculous was that?

"It makes perfect sense to me."

Nora laughed in disbelief. "You know, Nathan, a lot of people should be grateful you live in the modern era."

Even though he was still sulking, he couldn't ignore her.

He took the bait. "Why?"

Stifling a smile, Nora said, "Because if you were some ancient tyrant, you wouldn't just punish the culprit; you'd execute their entire village just by association."

Seeing that she was in the mood to tease him, Nathan scoffed softly. "Isn't it your fault?"

She had casually dropped that she was going on a blind date. How was he supposed to be happy about that?

"I'm accompanying Valerie."

Nora suspected Nathan was being deliberately obtuse. Tagging along to support a friend was miles away from going on a date herself.

How could the brilliant Captain Peyton misinterpret that?

"You're going with her, but what if someone there takes an interest in you?"

Nora gave him a baffled look.

Seeing his sulky expression, she finally realized why he was so worked up.

"I had no idea you thought I was such an irresistible heartbreaker."

The kind of woman who couldn't even go out for lunch without men lining up to date her?

"Nora Hayes, don't change the subject."

Nathan used her full name. It seemed the Captain was taking this very seriously.
