The nurse heard exactly what Mia said to Aaron.

At first, she thought it was some kind of sick joke, but as both of them began violently vomiting loud enough to blow the roof off the room, her face completely drained of color.

"Are you two okay?!"

With one puking on her left and the other on her right, she had no idea who to help first.

Thankfully, Aaron was a medical professional. His tolerance for the grotesque was significantly higher than Mia's. By the time the doctor rushed into the room, Aaron had managed to pull himself together.

"What's going on in here?"

The doctor surveyed their pale, sweat-drenched faces. Seeing the yellow bile they had thrown up, he immediately asked, "Did you eat something bad?"

The moment Mia heard the word 'eat', her face turned a nauseating shade of green and she started aggressively dry-heaving again. The nurse quickly pulled the doctor aside and whispered an explanation.

When the doctor heard about the human bone broth, his expression turned grim.

"Did you call the cops?"

This was far beyond a medical emergency.

"I forgot! I'm going right now!"

The nurse bolted out of the room.

Aaron wanted to stop her but was a second too late.

It wasn't until the doctor gave Mia a mild sedative to stop her violent retching that Aaron finally explained the situation.

The doctor eyed them both with heavy suspicion, nodded briefly, and left.

But his guard was clearly up.

Left with no other choice, Aaron walked over to the bed to ask Mia how she found out about the soup.

The moment he spoke, Mia exploded.

"You have the nerve to ask me?! Are you brain-dead, Aaron?!"

"Aren't you supposed to be a doctor? The most brilliant surgeon of your class?! How the hell can you not tell the difference between human bones and pig bones?! Are you completely blind?!"
