The thought of that toxic pair being locked in mutually assured destruction put her in a fantastic mood.

"The police follow the law. If the Hayes family refuses to bail him out, an attempted murder charge is not something Aaron will easily walk away from."

Leonard's expression darkened. "So what?"

"He dared to put his hands on my daughter. He will pay the price."

Nora smiled faintly. "Is that so? Let's hope you're still singing that tune later."

Without waiting for his response, Nora spun on her heel and briskly walked away.

Nathan's car was idling by the curb.

Nora pulled the passenger door open and slid inside. She saw Leonard chasing after her, his mouth moving as he shouted something, but she had absolutely zero interest in hearing it.

"Let's go."

She rolled up the window without a second thought, tearing her gaze away and leaving Leonard completely in the dust.

Nathan glanced over. Seeing Nora's calm demeanor, the tension slowly drained from his own posture.

"Everything okay?"

"Yeah," Nora replied.

Even if Leonard wasn't exhausted from repeating the same pathetic pitch, she was certainly exhausted from hearing it.

Sometimes, Nora couldn't help but marvel at the man's sheer tenacity.

He really acted like he was prepared to fight a war of attrition to the bitter end.

Nora just couldn't grasp his logic. Even if his grand scheme succeeded, what made him think he would reap any rewards?

Was he truly arrogant enough to believe that if she married into ultimate wealth, she would miraculously embrace family ties, forgive his lifetime of abuse, and funnel resources back into the Hayes Group?
