The Captain I Married by Chance novel Chapter 541

Nora's mouth twitched at his words.

It wasn't that they were taking things too lightly.

The truth was, she simply hadn't given the wedding much thought in the beginning.

By the time she wanted to get involved, the older generation had already arranged everything down to the last detail.

Even if there was something she didn't like, she could never bring herself to say it and cause them more work.

Besides, Nora wasn't one to fuss over such things, and with a major case demanding her attention, she had naturally poured her heart and soul into her work.

"Mr. Adams, Nathan's grandfather is handling the wedding arrangements, and we're keeping an eye on it," she said. "It won't interfere with our duties."

Hearing that Nathan apparently had no intention of taking a break either, Mr. Adams glared at them. "Enough! You two need to take some time off right now while we don't have an active case!"

"You can come back after you're married. Honestly, anyone listening would think this precinct would fall apart without you two!"

"I am not the kind of boss who works his officers to death."

Mr. Adams checked his watch. "I have to step out for a bit. You two head over to the Special Task Force and handle the handover. We still need a final debrief for this case. Finish it up quickly so you can go home."

Nathan raised a brow. "Mr. Adams—"

Mr. Adams acted as if he hadn't heard a word, grabbing his briefcase and making a remarkably quick escape.

Nathan was left utterly speechless.

Nora rarely saw that kind of expression on his face. She smiled and said, "I didn't realize Mr. Adams was so lively."

She had always thought of him as a stern, unsmiling figure of authority.

She never expected him to have this side to him.

It seemed closing the case had put Mr. Adams in a fantastic mood.

"He was quite the menace in his youth."

Nathan didn't hesitate to expose his boss's history.
