The Captain I Married by Chance novel Chapter 542

"That's between you and Captain Peyton. Don't drag me into it!"

The way they spoke made it sound as if she actually called the shots with Nathan.

Heaven knew she didn't do anything of the sort!

In their relationship, Nathan was almost always the one taking the lead, while she naturally fell into a more passive role.

"Well—"

Before anyone could add another word, Nathan stepped out of his office.

"Why is everyone gathered around here?"

The group instantly scattered in every direction.

Nora was left utterly speechless by how fast they fled. She couldn't help but shoot Nathan an appraising look.

Catching her gaze, Nathan turned his head to look at her.

He pulled out his phone, typed out a quick message, and hit send.

A moment later, Nora's phone buzzed with a notification.

She unlocked the screen and read the text he had just sent.

[Stop staring at me, or I won't be able to stop myself from kissing you.]

Nora blinked. "...?"

Her head snapped up, her eyes darting straight to Nathan.

He looked exactly the same as always, projecting an aura of calm, intimidating authority as he surveyed the rest of the office.

Yet this was the exact same man who had just sent her something so scandalous.

The sheer contrast sent a rush of heat to her cheeks, making her feel as though she were dating two completely different people.

"Captain Peyton, Dr. Hayes, the main conference room is ready. The executives have arrived."

An officer walked over to notify them.

"Understood."

Nathan gave a curt, professional nod. "We'll be right there."

The officer acknowledged him and turned away to head back.

Nathan glanced at Nora and opened his mouth to speak. Terrified he might say something inappropriate out loud, she quickly blurted, "I need to use the restroom, I'll be right back."
