The Captain I Married by Chance novel Chapter 69

Nathan grunted in agreement. Picking up on the undertone in Nora's question, he raised an eyebrow. “What are you up to?”

“Well…”

Nora didn’t know how to begin, so she just stayed silent.

Nathan didn't press her further.

The two of them went straight to the task force's conference room.

The investigation was progressing steadily.

With modern technology, it was only a matter of time before many things were uncovered.

Towards the end of the meeting, Nathan suddenly brought up a new lead.

“Based on the pollen found on the victim's clothes, we've narrowed it down to a few flower shops in the city.”

“Focus on checking who bought flowers around the time the victim was killed.”

A new lead invigorated the team.

Everyone responded with enthusiasm.

After the meeting, Nora closed her laptop, rubbing her tired temples. As she was about to get up, she saw someone standing beside her.

She looked up to see Colin, his face bright red, holding a bag.

When he saw her looking, Colin quickly averted his gaze and held the bag out to Nora.

“Dr. Hayes, this is…”

“Nora.”

Nathan's voice came from the doorway of the conference room.

Both Nora and Colin looked up at him.

Nathan was staring at them, his expression unreadable. “Weren’t you going to request time off?”

Nora was confused.

To request time off, wouldn't she just need to ask her supervisor, Nathan? Did he mean she had to go to his office specifically to ask?

Nora didn’t get it, but she did need the time off.

So she could only give Colin an apologetic smile. “Sorry, I have something to do right now. Can we talk later?”

Colin’s brow furrowed, but he managed a smile. “It’s fine, Dr. Hayes. You go do your thing.”
