ed Event Part 2

Chapter 320: An Unexpected Event, Part 2.

Clara

The traffic light turns green and I move forward, my hands still firm on the steering wheel, now free of tension from a few minutes ago. The city envelops me again with its usual noise, with the lights reflec off car windows, with that constant movement that makes everything seem normal. And that’s exact! what I need.

Normalcy.

I take another deep breath, exhaling slowly and trying to stay in that state. I force myself to think abou what really matters. About what’s coming.

About Ethan, about what we talked about, about what we’re going to build.

My fingers, almost without realizing it, brush against my stomach again. It’s a new gesture, but it alread feels like home. It makes me smile.

“Everything’s going to be alright…” I murmur.

I keep driving, the traffic begins to thin out as I move forward. The streets become wider, clearer. The traffic lights are farther apart, and the cars are moving faster. It’s an area I know well; I’ve driven it many

times.

There’s nothing out of the ordinary, nothing. And yet… There’s something, I dont know what it is.

But it’s there, like a slight unease I can’t quite shake off

I grip the steering wheel a little tighter.

“That’s enough…” I tell myself quietly. “You’re fine.”

I keep going.

A car passes me, another pulls ahead, nothing strange. Nothing out of the ordinary.

I glance in the rearview mirror, just lights, just movement… Just the city.

! swallow.

I try to relax my shoulders, I turn on the radio briefly, looking for something to distract me. Soft music… Low volume.

Something to keep me here, present.

A car pulls in front of me, I don’t think much of it at first. It’s normal. But then….

It brakes slightly, just enough to make me slow down.

I frown

‘What are you doing…?

Nothing’s wrong… It keeps going, moves forward a few meters. And brakes again.

This time a little harder.

“Come on…” I murmur.

I glance to the left; I could change lanes, but there’s another car passing.

I look to the right, a bit tighter. There’s no immediate space.

I take a deep breath.

“Relax…”

The car in front of me moves forward again, and then…. It brakes Hårder.

My body reacts before I can even think about it; I press the brakes harder.

The seatbelt tightens against my chest, the car slows down rapidly, my heart starts racing.

“What the hell…?”

I try to maintain a safe distance, but then… I hear something, a sound behind me, a squeal.

Tires very close, too close.

My eyes open, I glance in the rearview mirror.

Lights… Too close.

“No…” I whisper.

Time seems to shatter in that instant.

Everything happens too fast and at the same time… Too slow.

The car in front of me brakes again, this time completely, without any space, without warning.

My foot is pressed hard on the brake, but it’s not enough.

I have no margin, no way out. I try to turn the steering wheel, to find a gap, anything.

But the space is minimal, and behind me… The impact.

The steering wheel moves in my hands, I lose control. The car slides slightly.

I don’t know where, I can’t understand what’s happening.

I only feel my body, the impact, the noise.-

I try to breathe, but the air doesn’t flow properly. My chest hurts, it burns, as if something is squeezing 1

“God…” I murmur.

My voice is barely there, I try to move my hands, one is still on the steering wheel.

The other… It trembles, instinctively dropping to my stomach. I cover it.
