"What happened to Riley? Why is she in the hospital?" Winona's voice spiked with panic.
"She got hurt saving someone. Do you want to go see her?"
"Yes, absolutely! Is she at the First Medical Center? Which room?"
"I'll come pick you up."
"Huh?" She sounded thoroughly flattered by the offer.
"Wait at the back gate of your university. I'll be there in twenty minutes." Sebastian paused, then added, "You can see what happened on the news." With that, he hung up.
The elevator arrived just in time, and Sebastian stepped inside.
Franklin followed, standing behind Sebastian, staring at the man's broad back with utter awe.
He had assumed his boss would just suffer in silence, but instead, he was actively plotting his next move.
Since he didn't have a valid excuse to stay, he was bringing Winona over to ruin Pierce's night. With a massive third wheel lighting up the room, there was absolutely nothing Pierce could do.
His boss truly was a tactical genius.
At the back gate of the university.
A black Rolls-Royce pulled up quietly to the curb. Winona immediately hopped in, bombarding Sebastian with questions before the door even closed. "How is Riley? Is she badly hurt?"
Sebastian, busy typing an email on his phone, replied flatly, "You'll see when you get there."
"I read the news online! A patient with depression tried to commit suicide, and Riley saved her! She's so amazing. Everyone online is calling her a true angel of mercy." Winona's eyes sparkled. "I swear I like her more and more every day. She's beautiful, gentle, elegant, an incredible doctor, and she has such a big heart!"
Only then did Sebastian tear his eyes away from his phone to look at her. "You have good taste."
"Right? Right? You think so too, don't you?" Thrilled to have someone agree with her, Winona practically bounced in her seat. But a second later, she remembered exactly who she was talking to and stammered in shock, "Y-y-you... you just praised Riley?"
A man as enigmatic as Sebastian never easily revealed his preferences. He was a natural-born prodigy, excelling at absolutely everything, and earning a compliment from him was harder than reaching the stars.
