She fought down the rising panic, forced her hands to keep packing the kit as if absolutely nothing had happened, and unleashed a torrent of clinical nonsense. "The sudden shift in posture from bending over alters the gravitational distribution of blood in the body. Venous return from the cranial cavity slows down, leading to temporary facial hyperemia, which causes the skin to flush. It's a completely standard physiological response."
Sebastian's lips twitched upward. She was incredibly cute when she lied. "I see."
Riley let out a massive, silent breath. She had survived. Snapping the kit shut, she looked at him. "Have you eaten lunch?"
"I lost my appetite," he answered truthfully.
"You still need to eat something, or you're going to wreck your stomach." Back in med school, Riley had juggled so many part-time jobs that she constantly skipped meals, leaving her with chronic gastritis. "Do you have anything in the kitchen? I can make you something."
"I do."
"Let me go check." Riley fled the bedroom and beelined for the kitchen. Yanking open the massive stainless-steel fridge, she found half a dozen eggs, a mountain of fresh fruit, and rows of imported bottled water.
The kitchen was spotless, and the cookware looked like it had literally never been used. He obviously never cooked here.
Six eggs. He called this having food?
She turned to find Sebastian walking into the kitchen behind her. "Should I just order you something?"
"There's pasta in the pantry."
"Spaghetti and eggs?"
"Sure."
For a billionaire, he was shockingly easy to please.
"Go wait out there. It won't take long." She grabbed an apron hanging off a hook and went to tie the strings behind her back.
Sebastian stepped up right behind her, taking the strings from her hands. "Let me."
As his fingers brushed against hers, Riley recoiled instantly. A man tying an apron for a woman felt incredibly, dangerously intimate.
