The Coldest Man in the Room Melted Only for Me novel Chapter 277

"Keep a lid on your temper later. Don't start another fight with her. She's stubborn as an ox. She responds to coaxing, not threats."

"I know, you don't need to tell me."

The first voice belonged to George Vance, the second to Elaine Vance.

Riley thought to herself, Other than the divorce, I’ve obeyed practically everything they’ve ever told me to do. How am I stubborn?

But hearing them discuss how to avoid an argument meant they didn't want things to be unpleasant. It meant they still cared about her.

Riley pushed the door open. "Dad, Mom, I'm home."

A flash of guilt darted across Elaine's eyes. "When did you get here?"

"Just now."

Seeing Riley act normally, Elaine assumed she hadn't heard anything and quietly let out a breath of relief.

She hurried over to take the bags from Riley's hands. "Why buy things when you're just coming home? You must be burning up. I made some mung bean soup; it's chilling in the fridge. Go sit down. I'll get you a bowl."

She placed the bags on a table and bustled into the kitchen.

The entrance to the countryside house led straight into the main hall. It was spacious and bright. There were no sofas or coffee tables—just an electric scooter parked against the wall, a tall counter, a square dining table, and a row of chairs lining the sides of the room.

George was sitting on a chair, smoking. "Have a seat."

Riley sat down. "Dad, you should smoke less. It's bad for your health."
