The Coldest Man in the Room Melted Only for Me novel Chapter 282

She struggled to sit up from the floor, finally getting a clear look at the room.

It looked like an abandoned office. The only pieces of furniture were a decaying rectangular desk and a single chair. The overhead light fixture didn't even have bulbs. Large patches of peeling paint hung from the walls, and a thick layer of white dust coated the floor.

Using her bound hands against the wall for leverage, she slowly pushed herself up. Through the grimy window, she could see an overgrown yard. It seemed to be an abandoned factory, and she was likely on the second floor. In the distance, she could faintly make out fields and small rolling hills. She definitely wasn't in the city anymore; they had taken her out to the countryside.

Her phone was gone. She tried to shuffle toward the door, but her ankles were tied so tightly she couldn't take a proper step. She resorted to hopping toward the exit, but after only two awkward jumps, footsteps echoed outside.

Panic flashed in her eyes. After a split second of thought, she threw herself back onto the floor on her side, closed her eyes, and played dead.

The footsteps grew louder until the door opened and two men walked in.

Riley kept her eyelids cracked just a fraction. It was the same two men who had grabbed her earlier.

They had stripped off their shirts, leaving them bare-chested in nothing but their board shorts. The tattoos on their arms and necks extended across their torsos, forming grotesque, intimidating patterns that made her skin crawl.

They were carrying a tripod and a video camera. Terrified of being noticed, Riley instantly shut her eyes tight.

"It's so damn hot out here."

"I'll set up the gear. You check if the bitch is awake yet."

Riley felt someone step right up to her. The next second, a rough hand slapped her cheek twice. Her fingers curled slightly, but she used every ounce of willpower to remain entirely limp.

"Still out cold."

Riley heard the rustle of the man standing up, followed by the screech of a chair being dragged across the floor. He must have sat down by the desk.

She cracked her eyes open just a sliver and saw the other man setting up the tripod. The camera lens was pointed directly at her.
