The Contracted Ever After (Cordelia and Ronan) novel Chapter 627

Cordelia suddenly realized her slip-up and quickly tried to recover, "Oh wow, he's still just a big kid, how could you do that?"

Victoria, casually cutting into her steak, laughed, "Well, he was quite the stallion in bed, didn’t seem like it was his first rodeo."

"Must’ve picked up those moves from that politician's daughter," Cordelia teased.

"Stop with the nonsense!" Victoria shot back. "I gave him a clear ultimatum. If he messes around with that politician’s daughter again, he’ll have me to answer to."

Cordelia was baffled. Just yesterday, they were strangers, and now, after one night, Harold was already wrapped around Victoria's finger?

"By the way, the reason I asked you out was to make sure you don’t breathe a word of this to Janice. I wouldn’t want to mess up my image of elegance and grace in her eyes," Victoria added.

"Got it," Cordelia replied. "So, what's your next move?"

"I haven’t really thought that far ahead, but I know I can't just sit idle for the next couple of years," Victoria admitted.

When Cordelia got home, she couldn't help but share the juicy details with Ronan before bed.

Ronan's reaction was surprisingly nonchalant, just a couple of grunts.

"Why are you so uninterested? Come on, share your thoughts," Cordelia insisted, feeling a bit annoyed.

"It’s all good. You ladies always like to have a man wrapped around your finger. Some just do it more smoothly, while others play hard to get," Ronan teased with a smirk.

Cordelia bristled at his words, "Who are you talking about? Who’s playing hard to get? But seriously, didn’t Janice mention Harold has another admirer? The daughter of some high-ranking official.”

"The big boss's kid?" Ronan asked, raising an eyebrow. "What’s her name?"

"Jealous, are we?" Cordelia quipped with a mix of sarcasm and jealousy.

"Nah, I’m more interested in her old man," Ronan joked.

[I don’t know what his deal is. Maybe he’s on the hunt for a side piece.]

[And he’s letting you in on it?]

[Yeah, typical man. Loves to watch women get jealous over him. Total creep. Hurry up and ask Harold. You’ve got the perfect excuse now.] After sending the message, Cordelia put her phone down, waiting for Victoria’s response.

Victoria thought it was indeed a good excuse.

So, she messaged Harold: [What’s the name of that other woman?]

After sending the message, she realized she mistyped "the other woman," but then thought, isn’t that what she was? Victoria had her eye on Harold for a while, and that woman hadn’t yet sealed the deal. If she did, Victoria would be the other woman, especially since she had previously expressed her disdain for her to Harold.

True to form, Harold replied shortly after: [Whose other woman?]
