Forcing a bright, camera-ready smile, Yesenia leaned toward the microphones. "Since he's standing right here next to me, I don't think I need to spell out our relationship, do I?"
"He's always been a deeply private person. He hates these kinds of events and despises having his personal life dragged into the spotlight. That's why he rarely gives interviews. So, please, I'd appreciate it if we could respect his boundaries regarding the specifics of our relationship."
She paused, letting her gaze sweep the cameras. "But I will say this: if our relationship was something shameful, or something to be hidden... he wouldn't be standing by my side right now."
It was a masterful response. She had just told every reporter in the room, and millions watching at home, that Clifford's willingness to endure an event he hated was proof of her untouchable status in his heart.
No one could replace her.
Given how openly hostile Clifford had been to the press just moments ago, it was obvious he didn't want to be there.
So why did he show up?
Because he spoiled Yesenia Winslet rotten.
Standing together under the flashing bulbs—him commanding and powerful, her radiant and poised—they looked like an absolute power couple.
Santino shifted his weight on the bed, leaning in closer. "How does that make you feel?"
Latisha turned to look at him, her eyes trembling slightly before she dropped her gaze back to her lap.
How did it make her feel? She felt absolutely nothing. She was numb to it.
Santino clicked his tongue in mock disappointment. He reached out, twirling a strand of her hair around his finger. "Even after all this, you still can't bear to leave him. You know, you are infinitely more pathetic than I ever imagined."
Latisha flinched.
She bit her lower lip, refusing to take the bait.
Santino's hand moved from her hair to her jaw, forcefully tilting her face up to meet his intense, burning stare. "Latisha. Leave with me. Let me take you far away from all this. What do you say?"
She tried to wrench her face away, but his grip was like iron, dragging her right back.
"What are you so terrified of? Are you afraid I'm going to hit you?" He actually chuckled, finding the thought amusing.
Latisha's fingers dug into the mattress. She didn't dare move a muscle. With him, a violent slap could come at any second.
Santino's eyes darkened. "Why... haven't you remembered everything yet?"
