The Devil CEO's Contract Wife novel Chapter 136

Chapter 136: What’s Privacy?

I sat up slowly, the process making my entire body feel like it was going to break, bones and all. But I successfully made it, resting my back against the headboard, releasing a relieved sigh. I reached for my glasses and put them on.

I still can’t believe he took care of the tampon, and it was placed perfectly.

That devilish man.

The things he does both alarm and fascinate me. However, in the end, it was all part of the contract; this behavior of his completely contradicts his personality, because what else am I supposed to believe?

I readjust, hearing a clatter. There was a bed tray holding breakfast. Oatmeal, toast, eggs, and tea. With dark chocolate as a side piece.

He made me breakfast, and it’s still warm too, which means it hadn’t been long since he brought it.

I carried and set it on my front, grabbing my spoon to eat, but I heard my phone ring.

My phone? I thought I dropped it.

It was right there on the nightstand as if it had just magically popped up. The screen wasn’t damaged either. Wait...

I turned it back and forth. It’s new.

"Seriously?" I mumbled under my breath.

He got me a new one!

On instinct, I went to my contact searching for Devil Husband, but I didn’t find it. Just as I thought, he had messed with my phone again.

Scowling, I searched his number, wondering what he saved it with this time. It popped up, and a name stared back at me that made my nostrils flare.

Honey.

What’s privacy? That word meant nothing to that devil. Was this a sick ritual of his to mess with my phone whenever he got his hands on it? What’s he gonna save it with next? The love of my life?

I was on the verge of tossing my phone across the room, but my phone rang again. Tori.

I just realized she had left me three missed calls.

"Hey girl! Did I call too early?"

"No, I’m—"

"I couldn’t wait! The pictures are out! Damn, you killed it!" She pitched, and I could tell she was jumping now.

I smiled, an action that made me feel better. I was glad she called.

"The pictures are fire! I don’t wanna say this, but you guys look so great together. It’s like you stepped out of a magazine or something. Everybody’s talking about the Midnight Pair like it’s the hottest sauce; they are eating it up! I can’t scroll past social media without seeing you two, and don’t get me started on Athena, she’s sure to win Outfit of the Hallows!"

I giggled as she ranted on, I knew she was looking forward to it more than I was. I wish I had brought her along.

"So spill the fucking tea, babe! How was it? What’s it like being a high-class, mingling with people who shit in gold toilets and wipe their ass with gold—"

"I’m eating!"

"Ooooh! Sorry!"

I swallowed down the nausea that built up, but the scent of peppermint hanging in the air made it tolerable.

"I’m on my period too. The worst!"

"Aww! This late? You’re seeing all the way to the new month, you know."

"Yeah... I feel terrible right now."

"Are you good?"

"I’m fine actually..." I chewed the inside of my mouth. "Ares was... caring."

"What now?"

My mouth hung before I spoke. "He makes it too real, and it makes me feel... funny."

"Funny? Like the thought of puking when you see him wash your hair. A wall of ice washing your hair, yeah, that image is impossible to construct. I’m getting the shivers here..."

I mulled how her reaction would be if I told her Ares had washed my hair, bathed me, and placed a tampon. Maybe I shouldn’t because I’m freaking out as it is.

"Girl, I don’t blame you. I’d freak out or get a whiplash. I’ve no idea how you stay in the same space with that devil. Gotta give you points for working with him and becoming his wife."

"Aww... I hate it when periods bring out the worst. It’s like the entire universe is against you and you’re fighting one on one, knowing you’re not gonna win and nature must take its course."
